Troopers said a big rig’s trailer full of batteries and forklifts caught fire just after 5 a.m. around mile 229. The fire caused a tire on the trailer to blow, but the driver managed to get the truck to the shoulder and detach the truck from the trailer, according to a news release.
The truck’s cargo was completely destroyed, but crews managed to douse the flames, the release said. The driver of the truck was not hurt.
