ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A man who was fatally struck by an Osceola County Sheriff’s Office marked cruiser and a pickup truck on State Road 417 in Orange County had crashed his own vehicle in a ditch before he was hit, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The pedestrian crash occurred at 5:35 a.m. on S.R. 417 south at Orange Blossom Trail, troopers said. According to a statement from FHP, the pedestrian, a 34-year-old Orlando man, was in the outside lane when he was struck by the deputy’s cruiser and then a Chevrolet Silverado.

An initial release from FHP said the pickup truck hit the pedestrian first.
Troopers said before the pedestrian was killed, the man lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a ditch on the exit ramp to Orange Blossom Trail. He got out of his crashed vehicle and walked across the southbound lanes to the inside shoulder median, FHP said.
The pedestrian then attempted to run across the southbound lanes before getting struck by the two vehicles, troopers said.
Neither the driver of the Chevrolet nor the deputy were injured, troopers said.
SR-417 reopened just before 1:30 p.m.
