PINE HILLS, Fla. – An 80-year-old man was hit and killed Wednesday night while walking across a road in Orange County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers were called around 8 p.m. to North Pine Hills Road and Alhambra Drive, just north of Colonial Drive.

According to an FHP crash report, the man walked into the northbound lanes of North Pine Hills Road and was struck by an SUV. The man was not in marked crosswalk, according to FHP.
Troopers said the 36-year-old driver tried to swerve to avoid hitting the man, but the front passenger-side of the vehicle clipped the pedestrian.
The victim was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, troopers said.
FHP said the driver is cooperating with investigators and reported he did not realize he hit the man until he saw damage to the SUV.
An investigation is ongoing.
