2 injured when sedan strikes semitruck parked along I-95 in Flagler County, FHP says

Roadway closed after 5 a.m., reopened around 7:30 a.m.

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – Southbound Interstate 95 was shut down Thursday morning after a crash south of Palm Coast Parkway that left two people hurt, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported around 5 a.m., involving a sedan with two occupants — a 28-year-old man driving and his 24-year-old passenger, both of Greensboro, North Carolina — and a semitruck parked on the outside shoulder, troopers said. For unknown reasons, the sedan drifted to the right, onto the outside shoulder.

As the sedan’s driver steered back onto the roadway, the vehicle’s right side struck the left side of the semitruck’s trailer, troopers said. The sedan came to final rest in the center lane, further south of where the semitruck was parked, according to FHP.

The sedan’s driver was hospitalized in serious condition while his passenger was taken to a hospital in critical condition, troopers said. The 44-year-old Boynton Beach man in the semitruck was uninjured, according to FHP.

All lanes of southbound travel were shut down and had been reopened by around 7:30 a.m.
