LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A man and woman were injured Thursday morning in a crash that prompted the closure of Florida’s Turnpike in Lake County.
The wreck happened in the southbound lanes of the Turnpike near County Road 470.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the crash involved a 2015 Ford F-250 and a 2010 Hyundai Tucson.
The driver of the Ford, a 28-year-old Clearwater man, was taken to a hospital, according to troopers. The other driver, a 49-year-old Ocala woman, was taken to a hospital with critical injuries, the FHP said.
All southbound lanes were closed and traffic was backed up in the area. The roadblock has since been cleared.
An investigation is ongoing.
