Florida man killed in head-on crash on SR-471 in Sumter County

3 adults, 4-year-old boy in other car suffer minor injuries

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – A 37-year-old Florida man was killed and four others, including a 4-year-old boy, were injured Wednesday night in a head-on crash in Sumter County, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

The fatal rollover wreck happened around 7 p.m. on State Road 471 near Main Line Road.

The FHP said a Ford Focus driven by a Floral City man was traveling south on S.R. 471 when he lost control of the vehicle, crossed the center line and crashed into a northbound Nissan Rogue, causing both vehicles to overturn.

According to troopers, the Floral City man, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene of the crash.

The driver of the Nissan, a 27-year-old Alabama woman, along with her passengers, two men and the boy, suffered minor injuries, the FHP said.

No other details have been released.
