14-year-old boy dies after being struck by trailer in Port Orange, police say

Officers respond to 90 block of Dunlawton Avenue

PORT ORANGE, Fla. – A 14-year-old boy died on Sunday after being struck that morning by a trailer in Port Orange, according to police.

Officers responded at 11:15 a.m. to the 90 block of Dunlawton Avenue regarding a CPR in progress, a news release states. It was found there that the boy had been struck by a trailer being pulled by a vehicle he had just exited, police said.

The boy was taken to a hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later, according to the release.

No other vehicles were involved and no other injuries were reported, police said.

The Port Orange Police Department is still investigating and urged anyone who witnessed or has information about the incident to contact traffic homicide investigators at 386-506-5849.
