Hit-and-run crash leaves pedestrian dead in Marion County, troopers say

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A 47-year-old Ocala man died Sunday morning in Marion County when he was struck be a vehicle that then took off, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. on County Road 25A, north of NW 100th Place, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the man was “positioned in the area of the roadside and east shoulder” of C.R. 25A, north of the vehicle, when the front right of the vehicle struck him.

The man suffered fatal injuries in the crash, coming to final rest on his right side with his head facing a southerly direction on the east shoulder of C.R. 25A, troopers said.

The vehicle then left the scene without even stopping, according to FHP.
