Though Stamps reportedly attempted to perform evasive action, he was hit and ejected from his motorcycle, the post states.

The deputy was hospitalized in Jacksonville as a trauma alert while FHP responded to investigate the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.

At last check, Stamps had suffered “some serious injuries” and needed surgery for elbow injuries, the sheriff’s office said. He was expected to be out of the hospital within several days and to make a full recovery.

A GoFundMe was set up for Stamps. If you’d like to donate, click here.
