19-year-old Orlando man killed in crash with LYNX bus in Orange County

Fatal wreck happened on Econlockhatchee Trail at Valencia College Lane

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 19-year-old Orlando man was killed Wednesday night in a crash with a LYNX bus in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The fatal wreck happened around 7:35 p.m. on North Econlockhatchee Trail at Valencia College Lane.

According to the FHP, the LYNX bus was traveling south on North Econlockhatchee Trail, approaching the intersection of Valencia College Lane.

At the same time, the 19-year-old was driving a 2004 Infiniti G35 north North Econlockhatchee Trail.

Troopers said the bus attempted to make a left turn to travel east on Valencia College Lane and the front of the bus struck the car, redirecting it off the road and into a concrete wall. The Infiniti then overturned and struck a pedestrian traffic signal, the FHP said.

Troopers said the driver of the Infiniti was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the LYNX bus, identified as a 59-year-old Orlando man, and five occupants on the bus were uninjured, according to troopers.

The crash remains under investigation.
