Can you turn right on red in Florida from both turn lanes?

ORLANDO, Fla. – News 6 traffic safety expert Trooper Steve answers viewer questions about the rules of the road, helping Florida residents become better drivers by being better educated.

Trooper Steve on Tuesday was asked by a viewer named Sue T., “When there are two designated right turn lanes at a red arrow, are you allowed to turn right from both lanes?”

In short, yes, you can make a right turn on a red light from a multi-travel lane. Unless you can’t.

“If you’re in the far left right-turn lane of a double right turn, you would be allowed to make that right — as long as there were no signs indicating otherwise,” Trooper Steve said. “All rules would still be the same as if you were in the far right turn lane.”
