THE VILLAGES, Fla. – Part of a road in The Villages has been shut down due to a sinkhole, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Southern Trace between Woodridge Drive and Williams Road will remain closed until further notice, the sheriff’s office said in a statement, adding the Sumter County Fire and Road departments were also on scene as of Saturday morning.

Those with questions were encouraged to call the sheriff’s office at 352-793-2621, the statement reads.

It was just last month that another alleged sinkhole forced a different road in The Villages to shut down, when the sheriff’s office on June 22 said that Canal Street would be closed indefinitely at Golden Grove Drive.
