OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A man and a woman from Wisconsin are dead after their SUV was struck nearly head-on by a pickup truck Tuesday in Osceola County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 12:22 p.m. on State Road 60, near the Lake Kissimmee South Boat Ramp, troopers said.

According to a preliminary FHP crash report, a Chevy Silverado was traveling westbound on S.R. 60 while a Honda CRV traveled eastbound ahead of a Lexus ES. The driver of the Chevy failed to maintain control of the pickup truck, crossing the centerline and colliding nearly head-on with the Honda, the report states. Despite evasive maneuvers, the Lexus that was traveling eastbound behind the Honda then collided with the CRV before striking a guardrail along the outside shoulder of the roadway, according to FHP.

A 68-year-old man was driving the Honda while a 65-year-old woman and an 84-year-old woman rode as passengers; troopers noted the two occupants in their 60s are from Madison, Wisconsin, while the older woman is from Largo. The Wisconsin woman was pronounced dead at the scene while the man later died at a hospital, the report states, adding the Largo woman suffered serious injuries.

In the Chevy, the 45-year-old man driving the pickup truck and a 36-year-old woman riding as a passenger suffered minor injuries in the crash, according to FHP. A 77-year-old woman also riding as a passenger in the pickup truck suffered serious injuries, troopers said. All of the Silverado’s occupants are from Fort Lauderdale, the report states.

The Lexus’ lone occupant — a 19-year-old Port St. Lucie woman — suffered minor injuries in the crash, troopers said.
