Groveland woman killed in fiery crash with tree in Lake County, FHP says

Crash occured on Ag Road, west of Brantley Road

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A 62-year-old Groveland woman was killed early Saturday when the SUV she was driving through Lake County veered off the road and struck a tree, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 12:20 a.m. on Ag Road, west of Brantley Road, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the woman was driving an SUV eastbound on Ag Road when the vehicle veered off the roadway to the right and struck a tree, causing the SUV to catch fire.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, the report states. It was unknown whether she was wearing a seat belt during the crash.

FHP is still investigating.
