POLK COUNTY, Fla. – Six people, including a child, were injured Sunday night in a crash near U.S. 27 in Polk County, according to the sheriff’s office.

The crash happened around 8:20 p.m. on Alturas Babson Park Cut-Off Road near U.S. 27 in the Frostproof area.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the crash involved two vehicles and three people were taken to the hospital by ambulance and three others, including the child, were airlifted.

“The types of injuries are unknown at this time, but at least one of the victims suffered what appeared to be serious bodily injuries that could be life-threatening,” a news release said.

Details of what led to the wreck have not been released.
