MELBOURNE, Fla. – A motorcyclist was killed and his passenger critically injured after a crash on Saturday, according to the Melbourne Police Department.
Police said they responded to the single-vehicle crash in the area of Melbourne Avenue and Melbourne Court.

According to a news release, a Honda motorcycle was traveling east on Melbourne Avenue when the operator failed to negotiate a curve and left the road.
Police said both the motorcycle and the passengers went airborne and suffered critical injuries as a result of the crash.
The driver of the motorcycle – who was not wearing a helmet – was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a few hours later, according to the release. Police identified him as Jeremy James Deluca, 47.
Police did not provide an update on the condition of the passenger.
