ORLANDO, Fla. – News 6 traffic safety expert Trooper Steve Montiero answers viewer questions about the rules of the road every week, helping Orlando-area residents become better drivers by being better educated.
A viewer named Mary on Tuesday asked Trooper Steve, “Is it illegal to walk across the road while looking at your phone?”
“It sure as heck should be,” Trooper Steve said. “But no, it’s not illegal.”
Trooper Steve warned, however, that anyone not paying attention in a dangerous situation is “taking your safety and just throwing it out there.”
“You need to make sure you are 100% paying attention,” he said. “Let’s be real, these drivers out there are pretty rough.”
