SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – An Orlando man riding a motorcycle near Longwood on 17-92 — traveling northbound in a southbound lane — died after crashing into a turning SUV on Wednesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 9:37 a.m. at 17-92′s intersection with General Hutchinson Parkway, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the 37-year-old man was riding a 2002 Harley-Davidson northbound in the southbound outside lane of 17-92, approaching the intersection, when a 44-year-old Winter Springs woman driving a 2020 Honda Passport attempted to turn left from eastbound General Hutchinson Parkway to northbound 17-92. The front of each vehicle collided, causing the motorcycle to spin and strike a concrete barrier wall, the report states.

The Orlando man was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, troopers said. The woman driving the SUV suffered minor injuries in the crash, yet she was not hospitalized and otherwise remained at the scene, according to FHP.

Troopers believe the man was not wearing a helmet during the crash.

FHP is still investigating.
