FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – An 81-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Flagler County early Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the fatal crash happened at at U.S. 1 and Royal Palms Parkway around 3:35 a.m.

According to a crash report, a sedan being driven by a 20-year-old Daytona Beach man was traveling north on U.S. 1, approaching Royal Palms Parkway.

Troopers said the pedestrian – identified as an 81-yeaar-old Flagler County man – began to approach the intersection of U.S. 1 and Royal Palms Parkway.
According to the report, the man started to walk east to cross U.S. 1 in the area of the marked crosswalk from Education Way.
As the sedan entered the intersection of U.S. 1 and Royal Palms Parkway, the left front of the vehicle struck the man as he was crossing the road, troopers said.
The pedestrian was killed in the crash, but troopers did not specify if the man died at the scene or at the hospital.
