Man on e-bike struck, killed in hit-and-run crash; Ocala police seek info

OCALA, Fla. – A man riding an e-bike while crossing a road in Ocala was struck by a vehicle and killed in a hit-and-run crash, according to police.

Officers responded around 7 a.m. Wednesday to a crash reported out of the 4400 block of SW College Road, the Ocala Police Department said in a statement.

A 28-year-old man was found dead near a retention pond not far away from the AT&T store there, the statement reads.

An investigation suggests the man was crossing State Road 200 northbound on an e-bike when a vehicle traveling westbound struck him, police said, adding the exact time of the crash was unknown.

“Our hearts go out to the victim’s loved ones as they deal with this tragedy,” the statement reads.
