2 Florida motorcycle deputies killed, 1 critically injured in crash

LOXAHATCHEE, Fla. – Two Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office motorcycle deputies were killed Thursday following a crash near Loxahatchee, West Palm Beach ABC affiliate WPBF confirms.

The double-fatal crash occurred in the 18000 block of Southern Boulevard, just west of Seminole Pratt Whitney Road, near Lion Country Safari, as reported by News 6 partner Local 10 News.

The station reports that a third deputy was critically injured, citing high-ranking sources. Officials believe the deputies may have been struck by a dump truck, according to PBSO officials, who confirmed the incident to WPBF.

Emergency crews responded quickly, with at least one deputy airlifted to HCA Florida Palms West Hospital in Loxahatchee.

Another helicopter transported a deputy to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, where law enforcement from multiple agencies, including West Palm Beach police and the Florida Highway Patrol, gathered.

Authorities said Southern Boulevard was temporarily closed west of Seminole Pratt Whitney Road. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue advised drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

The crash has also impacted access to Lion Country Safari, which is temporarily closed, WPTV reported.

PBSO officials also confirmed they will hold a press conference on the incident at 4 p.m.

No other information about the crash was immediately released.
