ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for the driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a bicyclist, according to a news release.
The fatal crash happened on State Road 527, also known as Orange Avenue, and 6th Street around 6:25 p.m. on Nov. 20.

According to the FHP, an unknown vehicle was traveling south in the continuous left turn lane of Orange Avenue, south of 6th Street. Troopers said a second vehicle, a RAM 1500 pickup truck, was stopped facing south in the inside lane on south Orange Avenue, south of 6th Street.
In addition, a bicyclist, was traveling east from the south shoulder across the travel lanes of Orange Avenue, south of 6th Street, not in a marked crosswalk, according to the release.
The bicyclist was traveling in front of the unknown vehicle but behind the pickup truck, troopers said.
According to the FHP, the bicyclist entered into the direct path of the unknown vehicle and as a result, the front of the vehicle struck the bicyclist. The impact of the collision caused the bicyclist to crash into the back of the pickup truck, according to troopers.
After the crash, the unknown vehicle left the scene, the FHP said.
The bicyclist, identified as a 39-year-old man from Orlando, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition, according to the release. On Nov. 29, the bicyclist was pronounced dead, the FHP said.
The driver of the pickup truck, identified as a 52-year-old Kissimmee woman, remained at the scene and was not injured.
Troopers said the unknown vehicle that fled the crash is possibly a white Ryder box truck that should have damage to the right front.
