ORLANDO, Fla. – Three Lake Nona High School students were injured Wednesday in a fiery two-vehicle crash that prompted the closure of Narcoossee Road in Orlando, according to the school district.
The wreck happened before noon on Narcoossee Road at Nonacrest Drive, west of State Road 417.
While all lanes of Narcoossee Road were initially closed, lanes later reopened.

The Orlando Fire Department posted on X that both cars involved in the wreck caught fire and three people were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center as trauma alert patients.
Fire officials said one victim suffered severe burns and another was airlifted to ORMC.
Orange County Public Schools released a statement Wednesday on the wreck and said three seniors were involved.
District staff and the Lake Nona High School community are saddened to learn that 3 seniors were involved in a severe car accident this afternoon near Narcoossee Rd and Nonacrest Dr., just over 2 miles away from campus. One victims suffered severe burn injuries, while the other two victims suffered injuries as a result of the crash.
All 3 victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment. Orlando Police Department is investigating this case. At this time, the victim’s names are not being released.
Starting tomorrow, there will be grief counselors on campus for all students and staff who need to speak to someone, they will be on campus for as long as they are needed. Principal Campbell will be sending a voice message this afternoon to LNHS families with more information.
Families, please take time tonight to speak with your child about the importance of safe driving and making responsible choices. This is terrible news for the Lake Nona and greater Orlando community and I am hoping for our students' wellbeing and speedy recovery from this tragedy.
The Orlando Police Department later said that preliminary information indicated the two vehicles were being driven recklessly — weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed — before their drivers lost control, according to the statement.
Both vehicles then left the roadway and crashed into trees, police said.
Two of the people hospitalized were treated for non-life-threatening injuries while one of them remained in critical condition at the time of this report, police said.
