Daytona Beach man killed when car slams into big rig

Troopers investigate wreck on Sand Lake Road

ORLANDO, Fla. – A car slammed into a tractor-trailer late Wednesday in Orange County, killing a 40-year-old Daytona Beach man, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The fatal crash was reported at 11:52 p.m. on Sand Lake Road near Kirkman Road.

The victim's name has not been released.

According to the FHP, the man was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze west on Sand Lake Road when he crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer, which was also traveling westbound.

The car ended up wedged beneath the tractor-trailer.

The victim, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene, the FHP said.

The big rig driver was not hurt.
