The crash was reported around 12:55 p.m. Wednesday on I-4 west at mile marker 106 near Deltona.

Troopers said a semitruck hauling slabs of marble was heading west on I-4 in the left lane. A semitruck hauling mail was stopped on the right shoulder of westbound I-4.

The driver of the semitruck hauling mail said he had a mechanical problem and had activated his emergency flashers as he was parked. Troopers said the hood of the truck was up and as he was checking under the hood, the other semi traveled across all westbound lanes of I-4 and onto the shoulder.

The front of the semitruck hauling slabs of marble struck the rear of the other semitruck. Troopers said the driver of the semi hauling mail was injured when the impact of the crash threw him to the ground.

The driver of the semitruck hauling slabs of marble was pronounced dead, according to the Florida Highway Patrol's report.

All westbound lanes were closed in the area, but one lane later reopened.
