ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – State Road 417 remained shut down at Orange Blossom Trail on Tuesday night after a crash that killed a 52-year-old man from Kissimmee, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Two vehicles were involved: a semitruck and a passenger van. One was heading north on SR 417 and the other was going south when the driver of the van, the Kissimmee man, lost control of his vehicle and crossed the center grass median, the FHP said.

The man went into the southbound lanes of SR 417 and crashed head-on into the semitruck, operated by a 45-year-old Riverview man who suffered minor injuries in the wreck, troopers said.

The crash was reported about 5 p.m., near mile marker 12 in Orange County.

The victim’s name hasn’t been released. He died at Osceola Regional Hospital.
