Man struck, killed in Orlando hit-and-run

Police investigate crash at John Young Parkway and Arlington Street

ORLANDO, Fla. – A man was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Tuesday in Orlando, police said.

The crash was reported around 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of John Young Parkway and Arlington Street.

Orlando police said officers were called to the area and found the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

No other details, including information about the vehicle, have been released.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.

The crash comes a week after a statewide campaign was launched to bring awareness to hit-and-run crashes.  According to Orlando police, more than 3,000 hit-and-runs were investigated in 2018, and 196 have been solved.

A man who lives nearby said crashes in the area happen too often.

"It's got to stop, man," Steven Demarco said. "I mean, I'm scared."
