SunRail trains delayed system-wide after pedestrian struck in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. – A pedestrian was struck by a SunRail train Friday morning in Orlando in an apparent suicide attempt, causing system-wide delays for the commuter rail service, officials said.

The crash was reported around 6:20 a.m. in downtown Orlando on the southbound tracks near Pine Street, which is closed from Orange Avenue to Garland Avenue.

Orlando police said the victim was taken to a hospital. The victim's condition is not known.

The Florida Department of Transportation said the incident involved a "trespasser."

Officials said train P303 left DeBary at 5:30 a.m. carrying 71 passengers and two crew members, and the crash was reported about an hour later.

No one on the train was injured.
