ORLANDO, Fla. – Storms are firing up across Central Florida on Monday.

Expect a 60 percent coverage of showers and storms, some of which could be strong to severe, with gusty winds, lightning and heavy rain.

Expect a high of 92, which is the average on this date in Orlando.

"It will feel like 100 degrees or higher before some of the heaviest rain rolls in," News 6 meteorologist Troy Bridges said.

"That puts the yearly rain deficit in Orlando at 10.47 inches," Bridges said.

Pinpointing the tropics

A new wave developed overnight, moving toward the Lesser Antilles.

It has a 20 percent chance of development over the next five days.
