First, Florida currently has the right ingredients for fog, including clear skies overnight, high dew points, calm winds and plenty of saturated air.
- This occurs overnight when the heat of the day radiates from the surface
- As it lifts, it begins to cool and condenses into fog
- Depending on how cool the air is above the warm surface, the fog could deepen and create a thick layer
Dense fog advisories are issued when fog drops visibility to less than a quarter-mile.
