MIAMI – National Hurricane Center forecasters on Sunday morning gave Invest 95-L low-to-medium chances of becoming a tropical depression in the next two to seven days, respectively.
The small area of low pressure — now located about 900 miles east of the Windward Islands — is expected to encounter unfavorable upper-level winds as it moves into the central Caribbean Sea around midweek, according to the NHC’s 8 a.m. update.
Those conditions would only be marginally conducive for gradual development, forecasters said. It was cautioned, however, that Invest 95-L could still become a tropical depression in the next few days while it moves westward across the tropical Atlantic and eastern Caribbean, the update states.
Forecasters have given Invest 95-L a “low” chance of 30% for tropical development in the next 48 hours and a “medium” chance of 40% in the next seven days. Each figure is 10 percent lower than what was forecast in Saturday’s latest update.

The NHC has advised that those in the Lesser Antilles should keep a close eye on the system’s progress.
Elsewhere in the Atlantic, Tropical Storm Don became a hurricane Saturday afternoon and remained one overnight, but it was deemed a tropical storm once again by 5 a.m. Sunday.
