ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida is starting off, once again, with low clouds and patchy fog. Most of the fog should lift off the surface through sunrise early Wednesday morning as the cloud cover lingers through most of the day.

By the afternoon, expect temperatures to reach the mid- to low-70s while conditions remain mainly dry.

Rain chances begin to surge back into the overnight. The shift in weather is due to a weak disturbance pushing across Central Florida, which will spread widespread light rain across much of the area overnight Wednesday and into early Thursday morning. The chance of rain will sit from 30% to 50% with a higher chance for moderate rain favoring areas south of Orlando.

Highs on Thursday will remain cooler than normal in the mid-60s

The disturbance will push across Florida during the day Thursday, followed closely by a trailing cold front Thursday night and into early Friday. A cold ridge of high pressure will then build into Florida beginning Friday, keeping Central Florida under a chilly stretch through the weekend.

Temperatures Friday through Sunday will be much colder with highs struggling to reach the low 60s. Overnight lows will dip to the coldest temperatures of the season through the weekend, as lows could reach the upper 30s to low 40s. Saturday night lows remain to be the coldest of the three nights.

For the start of 2024, conditions will begin a gradual warm up with temperatures by the first of the year staying in the mid-60s. But if you’re planning on being out to ring in the new year, make sure to bundle up as temperatures will be in the 40s for many areas.
