ORLANDO, Fla. – A weak stationary front currently draped to our south will continue to gradually lift northward, keeping a few scattered showers in place across Central Florida on Friday, along with a thick cloud deck overhead.
Rain and storms chances look to remain higher through late in the morning, while highs warm to near 80 degrees.
Conditions will also become breezier through the day -- out of the south at 15-20 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph.
Later in the night, a trailing cold front will push into Central Florida. Models show enough low-level moisture to support a ribbon of rain and a few storms along the front.
With a marginal threat level in place for a few strong storms, the News 6 weather team has designated Friday as an Inconvenient Weather Day.
By early Saturday, most of the moisture along the front will exit the area, with a few lingering showers holding on across Brevard and Osceola counties.
Temperatures are forecast to trend cooler through the day, with highs dropping into the low to mid-60s. Cloud cover will take awhile to clear out through Saturday, with more sunshine expected Sunday.
The drier and cooler weather will be short-lived this time as moisture will lift once again from the south by late Sunday and into MLK Day. Rain chances increase to 40% by Monday.
The parade of fronts continues to start off the new work week as a big punch of cold air follows closely behind.
The next front arrives Friday, with rain and storm coverage increasing back to 60% and the coldest air of the season blasting into Central Florida by the middle part of the week. Highs will hold in the 50s!
Long-range temperature models show some locations near the I-4 corridor approaching the freezing mark both Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Bundle up!
