ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida will remain under a gloomy and soggy weather pattern for one more day as we await the approach of another cold front Tuesday afternoon.
Before the front arrives, temperatures are going to be very warm for early January, reaching the upper 70s in some parts.
Models show the moisture along the frontal boundary before noon for northern counties, shifting southward along the I-4 corridor by the late afternoon and exiting southern counties by sunset.
Plenty of available moisture will keep rain chances widespread at 70-80%, with a chance for a few strong thunderstorms. The strongest storms could produce damaging wind gusts (40-50mph), small hail and even a rotating storm with a brief tornado.
Behind the front, temperatures will quickly fall into the 30s and 40s by daybreak Wednesday morning. A brisk northwest wind will push wind chills into the upper 20s to mid-30s for locations along and north of Interstate 4.
A cool afternoon continues into Wednesday, with highs holding in the 50s for most of the area under partly cloudy skies.
After a chilly Wednesday, temperatures are expected to rebound quickly back into the 70s both Thursday and Friday ahead of another approaching front.
Rain chances remain low along the front (20-30%) before an even more potent blast of cold air arrives.
Temperatures both Saturday and Sunday could dip into the 30s overnight and stay in the 50s through the afternoon.
