ORLANDO, Fla. – A mild Friday morning will lead into another mild afternoon as highs reach the low 70s by midday.
Through the day, a cold front will reach the Florida Panhandle and continue its track over the area through the afternoon. A 30-40% chance of rain is expected ahead of this front followed by quickly clearing skies.
Winds will veer out of the northwest by this evening allowing temperatures to dop into the 30s for NW counties, 40s inland and 50s along the southern coastline.
A large high-pressure system will build in, ushering in much drier and colder air through most of the weekend. Despite plenty of sunshine on Saturday, highs will struggle to reach the mid to upper 50s from Orlando northward and the low 60s south.
Sunday morning looks to be the coldest night of the season with lows dipping into the 30s for most inland neighborhoods, and the low to mid 40s along the coast.
A freeze watch has already been issued for Marion County overnight Saturday and into Sunday, as temperatures will dip below freezing for a few hours Sunday morning. We could see more issued soon as areas in Lake and Volusia counties could approach the 32-degree mark too.
Along with the real air temperature as cold as it is, when you factor in a northerly wind around 10 mph, wind chill readings could drop into the 20s and 30s.
For this reason, a wind chill advisory is very likely for at least interior portions of the area on Sunday morning.
Some more clouds will be expected Sunday, with highs forecast to remain cooler than normal, in the mid to upper 50s inland and low 60s along the coast.
By the start of the work week, a quick warming trend will begin as winds veer off the ocean. Highs by the middle part of the work week are expected to climb to above average temperatures in the mid to upper 70s.
