Back to the 80s: Warmup returns to Central Florida

Florida sunrise.

ORLANDO, Fla. – A large ridge of high pressure sitting over the western Atlantic will remain in place through the rest of the week, keeping Central Florida on a dry, warming trend into the weekend.

A steady onshore flow with a bit of moisture present will allow for a weak sea breeze to develop, with a few isolated sprinkles possible each afternoon.

Temperatures will be the big story over the next several days, with highs warming above normal for this time of the year. Afternoon highs will be in the low 80s, under partly cloudy skies, with highs climbing into the upper 80s by Friday and into the weekend.

A few areas on Saturday and Sunday could be near record warmth, with lows staying in the 60s overnight.

With the weather feeling more like summer and many families on spring break this week, the beach will be a popular spot. But beachgoers should beware as a high risk of life-threatening rip currents will be present.

A cold front is now forecast to cross the area by Monday afternoon. Along the front, scattered showers and isolated storms will be possible with coverage up to 50-60%. Once the front clears, highs will struggle to reach the 70-degree mark on Tuesday and lows will dip back into the 40s and 50s overnight.

Enjoy the ride!
