ORLANDO, Fla. – The heat is on this week in Central Florida with high pressure keeping the forecast dry and the southerly wind driving in the warmer temperatures.

As we step into the start of the week, get ready for dry weather that gradually turns warmer with each passing day, for a few days anyway.

Tomorrow expect highs in the upper 80s – that’s no joke even though it’s April Fool’s Day.

But by the time Tuesday rolls around, brace yourselves for highs flirting with the 90-degree mark.

The record high temperature for Tuesday is 93 degrees set back in 1935. While we likely will stay under that record, it’s still very warm for this time of year. Typically, we see temperatures around 81 degrees.

Wednesday brings a game changer to the forecast as a cold front approaches Central Florida. Get your rain gear ready for scattered showers, accompanied by the occasional rumble of thunder, through the afternoon into the evening. Rain chances soar to 70%, and don’t forget to add in the gusty winds.

Rain chances drop Wednesday night as the front clears. Keep in mind the timing of the rain may change depending on the movement of the front. If the front speeds up, the rain will arrive earlier. If it slows down, then the rain will arrive later and may last a bit longer Wednesday night.

Thursday welcomes cooler and drier air with highs in the low-to-mid 70s. It’s the perfect opportunity to embrace the nice change as pollen counts will be just slightly lower that day.
