ORLANDO, Fla. – Expect some summer-like showers Tuesday afternoon before a heat wave arrives for the rest of the week.
Scattered showers and isolated storm will develop in the Orlando area through the afternoon as the sea breeze boundaries push inland and collide across neighborhoods into the early evening.
With rain coverage at only 20-30%, most of Central Florida will remain dry and much warmer than normal — in the upper 80s to low 90s.
A large ridge anchored over the Gulf of Mexico continues to build over the area through the rest of the week. The overall dry and stable airmass will limit any cooling factors in the forecast starting Wednesday.
Along the coast, highs will generally be close to the 90-degree mark and upper 90s west of I-95.
When factoring the increasing humidity values, there will be times where temperatures will be close to feeling like the triple digits.
Highs forecast between Wednesday and Friday will remain in record-breaking territory, with records set back over a century ago.
With extreme heat expected, make sure to keep hydrated, limit time outdoors and wear loose and light-colored clothing to help maintain a safe body temperature.
A weakening cold front will finally make it into Central Florida by this weekend. Rain chances on Saturday and Sunday will increase to 20-40%, with highs dropping back into the upper 80s for Mother’s Day.
