ORLANDO, Fla. – Tonight, Central Florida is feeling the breeze, especially around Orlando and along the coast.
The pressure gradient over the state is tightening, causing stronger wind gusts, reaching speeds of up to 35 mph near Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach, occasionally even higher. Nearby, a weak disturbance near Melbourne is bringing heavier showers, though lightning activity is limited.
Heading into the late evening, gusty winds will continue along the coast, around 25-30 mph, while inland areas will experience lighter winds of 15-20 mph. There’s a chance of scattered showers, with a slight risk of lightning along the coast and over the Atlantic waters. Temperatures will gradually cool down into the 70s, remaining slightly warmer to the east of Interstate 95.
Wednesday, high pressure in the mid-levels will keep widespread activity at bay, but a weak trough of low pressure moving towards the Southeast could increase rain chances heading into the end of the work week.
By Thursday afternoon, a wave of moisture may bring showers along the Florida/Georgia or Carolina coastline. Temperatures will stay near normal, with nighttime lows in the 70s. Gusty winds, reaching 25-30 mph, will persist, especially along the coast.
Looking ahead to the weekend, expect generally light winds shifting from east/southeast on Saturday to south/southeast by Monday.
Afternoon sea breezes are likely, potentially triggering scattered showers with isolated thunderstorms. Highs will range from the upper 80s to low 90s near the coast and climb into the low to mid 90s inland.
