Heads up if you’re hitting the beach — conditions are dicey, and there is a high risk of rip currents and some rough surf. It’s best to stay out of the water for now.

Thursday and Friday there’s a trough hanging around the Southeast U.S. coast that might develop into something tropical, but the chances are low right now. Expect breezy winds again on Thursday, calming down by Friday. Showers and a few storms are likely during this period, with rain chances between 40% and 60% on Thursday and around 50% on Friday.

Temperatures will be warming up, expect highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s on Thursday, and even touching the lower 90s across the board by Friday. It’ll feel sticky too, with high humidity adding to the heat.

Looking ahead to the weekend and early next week: That trough will fizzle out, but we’ll still have daily chances of showers and thunderstorms. The moisture will stick around, so keep an eye on the skies. Temperatures will stay hot, hitting the mid-90s inland by the weekend. Muggy conditions will linger, making it feel even warmer.
