Sizzling Sunday as showers and storms favor inland neighborhoods

Most storm activity to subside into the overnight

ORLANDO, Fla. – The usual summertime setup continues through the rest of the weekend and into most of next week with showers and storms possible each afternoon with the focus of activity favoring inland neighborhoods.

Plenty of available moisture present will help fuel sea-breeze storms by 2 p.m. for areas west of Interstate 95, producing heavy downpours, frequent lightning and gusty winds up to 40 mph. Most of the activity is expected to diminish into the overnight hours with lingering rain over the Atlantic waters.

SUNDAY RAIN CHANCES

Highs by Sunday will once again soar into the low-to-mid 90s with peak temperatures on the heat index reaching 102 to 107 degrees under mostly sunny skies.

SUNDAY HEAT INDEX

Flagler County remains under a heat advisory issued for Sunday afternoon between 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. due to feels-like temperatures above 107 degrees.

The presence of the Saharan dust layer for another day is expected to keep our sunrise and sunsets extra vibrant along with impacting air quality slightly to the moderate range through the day.

SUNDAY AIR QUALITY

A large ridge of high pressure remains in place through early next week, keeping a similar steamy and stormy weather pattern.

Beachgoers will have a relatively dry stretch for the weekend, but beware for the risk of rip currents.
