Dust, heat and storms to start the week. Here’s your Central Florida forecast

Main storm threats include lightning strikes, locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds

ORLANDO, Fla. – A high pressure over the Atlantic will keep a firm hold over Central Florida for another few days leading to a moist southwesterly flow.

Scattered to numerous showers and storms will be expected today as the sea breeze develops along the coast and moves inland. The highest chance looks to remain generally south and west of Orlando. Rain chances hover at 60-70% from I-4 west, and 40-50% east of I-4.

The main storm threats include lightning strikes, locally heavy rainfall (1-3 inches) and gusty winds.

Deeper moisture will move into east Central Florida by Tuesday, helping to enhance rain chances a bit further to 70-80% through the afternoon hours.

A touch of drier air returns by midweek, which will help reduce rain chances slightly to 40-50% through Friday.

Besides the storms, Central Florida will also have to deal with another steamy and hazy few days. Highs are forecast to climb back into the mid-90s, with feels like temperatures between 103-107 degrees.

Plenty of Saharan dust will also remain suspended over the Sunshine State through Tuesday keeping a slight haze in the sky and bringing air quality to a moderate level.
