ORLANDO, Fla. – The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a tropical wave in the Atlantic.
The disturbance located several hundred miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands has a 70% chance of development in the next seven days and a 10% chance of development in the next two days.
The wave is moving west across the Atlantic.
While there may be slow development in the next couple of days, the NHC said environmental conditions could be conducive for development and it could become a tropical depression early next week as it approaches the Lesser Antilles.
The disturbance is then forecast to move west-northwest and could approach the Greater Antilles by the middle of the week.
Hurricane season runs through November.
