ORLANDO, Fla. – Although summer break has come to an end across Central Florida, the summer heat continues!
MONDAY-WEDNESDAY:
A large ridge of high pressure will keep a steady southeast breeze in place supporting a 50-60% chance for most of the area as sea breezes collide after 2 p.m. along I-4. The storms that develop will be slow movers as they gradually track east toward I-95.
The main impact will be locally heavy rain as storms could produce up to 2-3 inches of rain.
Another hot afternoon is also in the forecast with highs in the mid 90s inland, while the sea breeze keeps coastal communities in the low 90s. When factoring in the humidity, “feels like” temperatures will be in the triple digits.
A heat advisory is in effect for Marion and Flagler counties on Monday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
LATE WEEK:
A series of weak fronts will try to carve a path toward Central Florida through the week. One front is forecasted to drop into the area by Thursday, ushering in drier air and a northeast breeze. The combination will bring some temporary relief from the heat with highs cooling back to normal in the low 90s with rain chances dipping to 30-40%.
The same front that will bring us “cooler” weather will also help keep Potential Tropical Cyclone Five away from the Florida coast as it develops into Ernesto this week.
As of Monday morning, the primary impacts looks to be incoming long-period swells producing rough surf and a high risk of rip currents Friday and Saturday.
