Staying soggy: Scattered storms pop up in Central Florida. Here’s when

Friday’s rain chances peak from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

ORLANDO, Fla. – As we look forward to the weekend, make sure to keep the rain gear handy! Although it won’t be a complete washout, scattered storms will return, particularly in the afternoons and early evenings.

Expect Friday’s rain chances to peak from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Expect some heavy rain, accompanied by significant lightning during that time. Due to the early rain and added cloud cover, highs should remain in the 80s across most of Central Florida.

The weekend is set to stay fairly soggy, continuing the trend of recent days with storm coverage at 60-70%.

The weather setup remains unsettled through the weekend, with plenty of moisture moving from both coasts as sea breezes collide.

The main hazards with these upcoming storms will include the potential for severe weather, characterized by strong gusty winds ranging from 45 to 50 MPH, frequent lightning, and localized flooding, especially in poorly drained areas.
