ORLANDO, Fla. – Two areas in the tropics are being watched closely, but neither poses a significant threat at this time.
A system east of Bermuda has a low chance of development, with a 10% chance of development in the next seven days.
A tropical wave near the northern Leeward Islands holds a 20% chance of developing as it moves west toward the Leeward Islands.
The National Hurricane Center said environmental conditions are favorable for slow development this weekend into early next week as it moves west-northwest at 10-15 mph.
The peak of hurricane season is Sept. 10.
Hurricane season runs through November.
