Another round of afternoon storms in Central Florida. Here’s when rain chances ramp up

Highest chances for rain come on Sunday, Monday

ORLANDO, Fla. – A large high off the eastern seaboard will continue to dominate the weather forecast for the next several days with our winds remaining out of the east.

This setup will usher in another summer-like day with scattered showers along the coast in the morning, followed by inland afternoon storms. Rain coverage sits at 30-40% Thursday through Saturday.

Temperatures will be in the upper 80s to near 90, with feels like temperatures between 100-105 degrees.

Holiday weekend outlook

As we head into the weekend, rain chances will increase a bit more as winds turn more southerly, dragging in more tropical moisture into the area. The highest chances for rain will come on Sunday and Monday with a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Tropics update

The National Hurricane Center is monitoring an area in the tropical Atlantic with a 20% chance of development over the next few days.

While there are no immediate concerns for Central Florida, we will keep a close eye on its progress as it moves towards the eastern Caribbean islands into the first few days of September.
