2 tropical waves in Atlantic watched for potential development

Tropical depression may form early next week

ORLANDO, Fla. – We are currently monitoring two tropical waves over the central Atlantic.

The first wave over the central Atlantic has a 40% chance of development in the next seven days and could become a tropical depression by early next week, according to the National Hurricane Center.

A new wave has also emerged off the coast of Africa with a low chance of development. The NHC gives it a 20% chance of development in the next seven days.

We will continue to monitor these areas closely over the next few days.

The peak of hurricane season is Sept. 10.

Hurricane seasons runs through November.
