Watching 3 tropical waves during typical summer day in Central Florida

The NHC has highlighted 3 tropical waves for potential development

ORLANDO, Fla. – The National Hurricane Center is monitoring three tropical waves:

  1. Eastern Atlantic Wave: Low chance of tropical development.
  2. Central Atlantic Wave: Medium chance of developing into a tropical depression in the next four to seven days as it moves toward the Lesser Antilles. A tropical depression could form next week.
  3. Gulf of Mexico Wave: Low chance of development in the next two to seven days. Regardless of development, heavy rain and gusty winds are expected this weekend in coastal Texas and Louisiana.

Today will be a typical summer day with isolated showers through Saturday and becoming scattered during the afternoon. Highs will be in the lower 90s and the heat index will range from 100-106 degrees.

The beach forecast is good with highs in the upper 80s, east winds at 10-20 mph and isolated showers possible. There is a moderate rip current risk.

Today is the last day of meteorological summer. Meteorological fall kicks off Sept. 1. Average temperatures in September are in the upper 80s for highs and lower 70s for lows.

Starting Sunday, tropical moisture will increase rain chances to 50-60%.

Rain chances for Labor Day will be around 60%, with hot and humid conditions and highs in the lower 90s. The unsettled weather will continue all week with rain chances between 60-70% and highs in the lower 90s.
