A front to our north over the Deep South will eventually move closer to northern Florida where it will stall out.

Meanwhile, back here at home, tropical moisture will continue to build up courtesy of a mid-level disturbance in between the Bahamas and southeast Florida and the southeasterly flow moving it in. The result will be deep tropical moisture which will be noticeable especially in afternoon thunderstorms that will be packing heavy rain.

Let’s time it out.

Sunday night expect a few coastal showers to linger through 3 a.m.

To kick off Labor Day most will be dry with partly to mostly sunny skies. Temperatures in the upper 70s will quickly heat up to the upper 80s by lunch time. The first half of the day will be the best for any plans outdoors.

By noon a few showers will begin to bubble up closer to the coast before spreading out across the interior into the afternoon and evening. Storms will be capable of producing heavy rainfall that could add up to 1-2 inches rather quickly and possibly lead to localized flooding in spots that exceed a couple of inches of rain over a short period of time.

Expect high temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s to feel like 100-105 degrees. Beach-goers should use caution while at the beach as rip current risks remain moderate. As always swim safe and near a lifeguard.

The highest coverage of rain will be after 3 p.m. through sunset. Much of the rain will fade as daytime heating is lost, but light rain could linger through late Monday night.

With tropical moisture sticking around and the front stalling out to our north, the unsettled weather pattern won’t be going anywhere. In fact much of the week ahead will feature afternoon downpours with rain chances between 60-70%.
